The past 2.5 weeks have been a wild ride and a bit of an emotional roller coaster but the words of Proverbs 3:5-6 have provided some much needed encouragement:
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."
It struck me the other day after reading this verse (because I have yet to memorize the first line, something that probably indicates I'm subconsciously preferring that he make my paths straight without me trusting in Him with all my heart) that while all we can see is the features, location, price, and other physical attributes of the particular house we're looking at, in reality there are much bigger factors at play. Future relationships, blessings and many other way more important things than the number of bedrooms or view from the back yard are at stake.
Also, as I mentioned here, we had quite a few encouraging not-so-coincidental moments in the weeks prior, a trend that has continued as things have progressed along. In classic dufus fashion, I realized we were short the earnest money that would have been due within 24hrs had our first offer been accepted, an issue compounded by the fact that it was a weekend and transfers from our investment account typically take a couple days. Lo and behold, someone emailed me the next morning about the Volvo we'd been trying to sell on craigslist for quite a while and a few hours later we had our earnest money (which unfortunately went unused.)
Even with all of the encouragement, it's a constant struggle to remain positive in the midst of flux and disappointment but faith and the knowledge of God's promises continue to carry us and we can stand firm in the words of 2 Peter 1:5:
"For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge"
